Alvaro F. Carreiro, 86, of Bristol

Alvaro F. Carreiro, 86, of River Street, Bristol, passed away on Jan. 18, 2021, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Valentina (Alves) Carreiro. 

Born in Pico da Pedra, Sao Miguel, Acores, he was the son of the late Francisco Duarte Carreiro and Maria dos Anjos (Ferreira) Carreiro. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Alvaro Carreiro Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Bristol; Arthur Carreiro and his wife Cindy of Bristol; Richard Carreiro and his wife Janet of Haverhill, Mass.; and Steven Carreiro and his wife Andrea of Warren. He was the grandfather of Rebecca Leandro, Tyler Carreiro, Austin Carreiro, Tess Carreiro, David Carreiro, Devin Carreiro, Chloe Carreiro, and Christina Carreiro, and great-grandfather of Olivia Leandro. He was the brother of Mary DaCosta and the late Jose Carreiro, Teofilio Carreiro and Arthur Carreiro.

Mr. Carreiro was the owner of Bi-State Realty for 35 years before retiring. He was president of the Dom Luis Filipe Society and an avid Red Sox fan.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
