Ann Marie (Borges) Sousa, 86, a life-long Bristol resident, died Feb. 8, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Julio and Rose (Serpa) Borges. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Jeremiah P. Sousa, Jr.

Ann Marie was a proud graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1953. After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone. Thereafter, she became a loving homemaker, enjoying gardening, cooking and decorating, especially for the holidays, and enjoyed following the New England sports teams with her husband, Jerry. She loved listening to Elvis and Roy Orbison, but most of all she loved her family.

Ann Marie, who was the best mother in the world, leaves her six loving children: Lee Ann Gagnon of Bristol; Holly D’Agostino of Bristol; Jerry Sousa of Edinburgh, Scotland; Kimberly Sousa-Vallone of Warwick; Kristen Sousa of East Providence and Paul Sousa of Bristol, along with their respective spouses. Ann Marie also leaves her beloved sister, Leonora Welshman of Rehoboth, as well as seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral services were held on Feb. 16, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Elizabeth’s Church. Burial was private
Arrangements are with the George C. Lima Funeral Home. www.limafh.com
