Eight locals to perform in The Nutcracker ballet

Posted

This December, eight talented Barrington children will take part in a hugely popular tradition.

Lola Brosco, Lucia Buonaccorsi, Mila Corey, Emma Gaines, Eleanor Golden, Sean Muldoon, Raina Salahuddin and Malina Zake will perform with the state's premiere classical ballet company, Festival Ballet Providence, in the annual production of The Nutcracker.

The Barrington residents will be part of a cast of more than 100 children performing roles such as Angel, Candy Doll, Mouse, Party Child, Soldier, Sugar Plum Fairy Attendant, and Trepak Corps.

Following an open audition in September, the children earned highly coveted roles in the elaborate professional production, which FBP has performed at the Providence Performing Arts Center since 1978. The children’s cast includes children from 33 towns across Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Ranging in ages from 7 to 18, the children chosen to perform in The Nutcracker represent a wide range of aspiring young dancers, from children in their first performing experience to advanced students anticipating a career in professional ballet.

Festival Ballet Providence will perform The Nutcracker from Dec. 13 to 15.
