Woman struck while trying to cross Wampanoag Trail
Driver of the vehicle not charged
Barrington police responded to the Wampanoag Trail near the first bird sanctuary at about 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7 after a pedestrian was struck by a car while crossing the road.
Police said the pedestrian — an 18-year-old woman from Franklin, Maine — was attempting to cross the four lanes of travel on foot with her boyfriend — a Barrington resident — when she was hit by the north-bound vehicle.
The victim and her boyfriend appeared to be drunk, police said. The woman allegedly told police the accident was her fault.
The driver, a Barrington resident, has not been charged.
