Teacher quits after students laugh through lockdown drill

School officials call police following incident

Posted

Barrington Police responded to Barrington Christian Academy on Thursday, Oct. 3, after school officials grew concerned about a teacher.

Police said the school was conducting a lockdown drill when the teacher heard some students laughing. When the drill was over, the teacher sent the students to the office.

The students later returned to the classroom and were allegedly still laughing. The teacher, who had formerly worked in law enforcement for many years, allegedly began yelling at the students, which prompted school officials to visit the classroom and told the teacher he could not yell at the students. The teacher, who said he takes the lockdown drills very seriously, then quit on the spot, said police.

School officials told police they were concerned about the teacher.
