PORTSMOUTH — A 42-year-old local man was charged with domestic cyberstalking and cyber-harassment on Wednesday, May 18.
Police said that around 4:45 a.m. on that date, officers responded to Newport Hospital to take custody of Jonathan D. Downes, of 5 North Drive. The victim was a 68-year-old woman from Portsmouth, according to police,.
Downes was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said.
He was later arraigned and held overnight at Newport Hospital, police said.

Tuesday, May 17
Michael J. Levesque, 30, of 144 Vernon St., Warwick, was charged with violating a restraining order and violating a protective order, both of which were confirmed by 2nd District Court. According to police, officers received a report from a 26-year-old Portsmouth woman that Levesque had e-mailed her in violation of the two orders. An arrest warrant was issued and Levesque later turned himself in, police said.
Friday, May 20
Herbert J. Nichelson, 43, of 156 Glen Road, was charged with reckless driving following a two-vehicle accident on Route 24 South at the West Main Road off-ramp around 10 a.m. Officers determined that Nichelson was operating his vehicle aggressively before the accident, police said. Video evidence of the incident indicated that Nichelson intentionally swerved his vehicle into the victim’s, causing the victim’s vehicle to make contact with a guard rail, according to police.
Sunday, May 22
Glavine J. Waldner, 21, of 23 County Road, Barrington, was charged with driving under the influence (first offense) after being pulled over on West Main Road at Stringham Road shortly before 2 a.m.
Monday, May 23
Hector J. Jimenez, 28, of 44 Maize Corn Road, was arrested at his home on a 2nd District Court bench warrant around 11 a.m.
