Barrington Police responded to Hampden Meadows School at about 5:10 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, after receiving an alert from the alarm company that motion had been detected inside the building.
Officers located an open door at the back of the school and bikes in the area. Police then spotted three teenage boys exit the school from a different door.
The boys told police they initially entered the school to return a basketball they had found there, and then walked around the school for a bit. Police later released the three boys — two 14-year-olds and one 15-year-old — to their parents.
