Police respond to bike path for fallen walker, injured bicyclist
Witness: Vehicle fails to stop, strikes bicyclist
Barrington police and fire personnel were twice called last week for emergencies that occurred on or near the East Bay Bike Path .
On Monday, Aug. 10, police and fire personnel responded to the intersection of West Street and the bike path after a vehicle struck a bicyclist.
A 19-year-old East Providence man suffered minor injuries during the accident. The driver of the vehicle told police she did not see the bicyclist. She appeared to be very upset. The man refused transport to the hospital. A witness told police the vehicle — a Toyota RAV4 — failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the bicyclists.
On Thursday, Aug. 6, police assisted fire and rescue personnel during a medical emergency near the corner of New Meadow Road and County Road. A 54-year-old woman became ill and fell to the ground after walking on the bike path with her daughter. EMTs transported the woman to a hospital, while a good samaritan gave her daughter a ride home.
