Barrington Police responded to an accident near the intersection of Nayatt Road and Terrace Drive on Friday, July 19. According to a witness, a motorist was told to wait before passing a construction vehicle, but the motorist grew impatient and tried to pass by anyway. The motorist's vehicle struck the construction vehicle, causing some damage. No one was injured.

Also on Friday, Barrington Police charged Mark Richard McCann, 54, of Riverside, with DUI of liquor or drugs-first offense. Police responded to an accident on Middle Highway at about 3 p.m. Mr. McCann was one of the motorists involved, said police. A witness told police that the vehicle Mr. McCann was driving ran a stoplight and struck the other vehicle. Police said there was an odor of alcohol coming from Mr. McCann; police said Mr. McCann failed a field sobriety test.

A Walker Farm Lane resident filed a parking complaint on Friday. The resident told police a neighbor has been parking illegally in front of his home. He said he spoke with the neighbor who would not oblige to the request. Police spoke to the neighbor, who said people have been parking on the street for years. Police said it is illegal to park on the street. The resident agreed not to park on the street.

On Thursday, July 18, a Cottage Street resident filed a parking complaint. The resident said a red pickup truck with an attached trailer was parked illegally. Police responded to the scene and located the vehicle; registration for the truck had expired, so it was towed away. The trailer's registration was up to date, and it was parked legally so it was left in the parking spot.
