Street signs damaged during single car accident
A Barrington resident allegedly fell asleep while driving in the rotary at the intersection of Washington Road and Willett Avenue at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3. Police responded to the accident scene and spoke to the motorist. The local man told officers he had dozed off. His vehicle then drifted up onto the curb and struck a series of street signs. Police said the motorist was not injured.
New roads lead to sticky tires
A woman who had driven her rental car on Preston Drive on Monday, June 24, told police that the asphalt was so sticky that it had stuck to the tires. The woman was apparently worried that the sticky asphalt might damage the tires. Officials said Preston Drive is one of the roads in town that is being re-paved.
Dog fight breaks out at dog park
A Barrington resident told police her dog was attacked and bitten by two other dogs while at the Haines Park dog park on Monday, July 1. Police were able to track down the other dogs' owners — all the animals involved in the fight were up to date on their vaccinations.
Window damaged after truck spins out in parking lot
Barrington police investigated an alleged vandalism at Haines Park on Monday, July 1. A local woman told police she had parked her vehicle in the dirt lot at Haines Park and later noticed a white truck enter the lot and start "doing doughnuts." When the woman returned to her vehicle she noticed her driver's side window was smashed and found a rock inside the vehicle. Police believe the rock had been thrown by the truck when it was spinning out in the dirt lot.
