Police responded to Massasoit Avenue for a report of a man walking in and out of traffic on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at about 7 p.m. Police said the man was seen walking toward the White Church at one point.
A short time later, a second person called police about the man. A 14-year-old Barrington girl told police she was riding her bicycle in that part of town when a man — the description matched that of the previous suspect — allegedly ran at her with a knife.
Police searched the area for the suspect and located the possible suspect at a home on Juniper Street. That man told police he did not have a knife, and that he was holding a beer can. The man said he did not yell at anyone. No one was charged.
Police said they planned to follow up on this incident.
