Barrington Police received reports of car break-ins early Thursday morning, May 26.
Residents on Deep Meadow Lane, a street that runs close to the Barrington-Swansea line, called police at about 6 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, after discovering that someone had rummaged through their vehicles during the overnight hours.
Police said five vehicles had been broken into — various items, including a pocketbook, were taken from some vehicles. The vehicles had been left unlocked, police said.
Police said a cell phone was found laying in one of the resident’s yards. Police seized the phone and are trying to pull fingerprints from it; officials said the phone might have belonged to the suspect.
One of the Deep Meadow Lane residents also reported that a child’s mountain bike was stolen from their property.
At about 4:45 p.m., a Connors Lane resident called police to report that a laptop computer had been stolen from his car. Connors Lane is located one road away from Deep Meadow Lane.
Later Thursday night, a Deep Meadow Lane resident called police after finding a laptop computer left on a stone wall near his property. The laptop appeared to match the description of the device stolen from the Connors Lane resident’s vehicle.
Police said they are trying to pull fingerprints off the laptop also.
