Two shotguns that went missing during a boating accident on the Palmer River last week have been recovered.
According to police, two East Providence men had gone duck hunting early Sunday morning, Jan. 2, but ran into some trouble when they tried to navigate their boat under the Warren River Bridge into the Palmer River. The area is notorious for having strong currents, and the boat capsized, dumping both men and their guns into the frigid water.
One hunter swam to shore and the other was pulled into a rescue boat. But their guns were not initially recovered. Barrington Police Chief Michael Correia said he was notified late last week that the men had recovered their guns.
