Police: Contractor had tagged, tracked Barrington woman

Police say charges could be pending

Posted

A Barrington resident stopped into the Barrington Police Station on Tuesday, Nov. 15 to report a suspicious condition — the woman told police she had received a notification on her iPhone that an air tag was tracking her route.

The resident initially believed the notification was an error, but stopped by the station to report the situation with police. Officers checked the woman’s vehicle and found an air tag.

Police investigated and later determined that a contractor who had been working at the woman’s home had placed the air tag on her vehicle. Police said the contractor had admitted to it.

Criminal charges could be pending, police said. The resident has obtained a no contact order against the contractor.
