Four Barrington teenagers may be facing criminal charges after they allegedly lit off fireworks inside a portable restroom located at the St. Andrew’s Farm Field property on Middle Highway.
The incident occurred on Sunday night, May 11. Police said someone saw teenagers lighting fireworks inside the portable restrooms at about 8:40 p.m. Officers responded to the field — police said one of the restrooms was filled with smoke; it also appeared that the toilet paper had been lit on fire.
Police searched for the teenage suspects but did not find them. At about 10 p.m., police received an anonymous tip — one of the teenagers had posted video from the incident on a social media account. Officers checked the post and were able to identify the suspects: three 14-year-old Barrington boys and a 16-year-old Barrington boy.
Police tried to call the parents of all four teenagers.
Police also spoke with the owner of the restroom company; police said he wants to press charges against the juveniles.
As of Monday morning, May 12, police had not charged the local teenagers.
