Event designed to unite and celebrate community theater all over the world

Barrington High School students took place in a worldwide event earlier this month, as they performed “All Together Now: A Global Event Celebrating Local Theatre.”

Barrington was one of more than 2,500 organizations from all 50 states and 40 countries and territories who participated in the event, which was sponsored by Musical Theatre International. MTI created the musical review to help unite and celebrate community theater all over the world.

“All Together Now” marked the first live performance inside the BHS John Gray Auditorium since March 2020.

“The performances themselves went well,” said Barrington High School theater teacher Stephanie Spaziano. “The audience got involved in a little audience participation during one of the skits between songs and many clapped along with the music during several of the pieces including ‘Supercalifragilistic.’”

Barrington High School’s performance was filmed and will be submitted to MTI as part of montage the organization is creating to showcase all of the performances from across the globe.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
