To the editor:
I think many will agree that there are things going on in our country today that are disheartening to say the least.
My grandchildren are very fortunate to live in a town with the many dedicated professionals who educate our children and also the parents who are so involved with their children’s education. I recently attended two events, one at the middle school, where one of my grandchildren attends and the other at Sowams Elementary School, where my other 2 grandchildren attend.
The middle school event was called Business America. The students were asked to create a business model using recycled materials. As I meandered through the many creative, ingenious business models of the middle school students, I was struck by not only how creative the projects were but how lucky the students are to have such dedicated professionals who teach them every day.
The Sowams event was a very patriotic tribute with a story about Francis Scott Key and the singing of several patriotic songs. The singing of the patriotic songs led by the music teacher, Mr. Vadnais, was very inspiring and heartfelt.
And if anybody has any fears about the future and where this country is headed, have no fear.
Congratulations to the many wonderful professionals that we have teaching our precious children. I hope they know how much they are appreciated and how fortunate the children are to have them and to be able to live in a town like Barrington.
