Planning to cut the grass this week? Keep an eye on your mower.
For the second time in about two weeks, a Barrington lawnmower was the target of thieves.
On May 26, a Maple Avenue resident stopped into the station to report that someone stole his lawnmower. The resident told Barrington Police he left the mower near the end of his driveway for about five minutes and when he returned to retrieve it, the mower was gone. Police said surveillance footage shows two men loading the lawnmower onto a trailer.
On June 5, an Upland Way resident told police he saw someone try to steal his lawnmower. The resident said he was cutting his lawn when he stopped to empty the bag on the mower. As he walked away to dump the bag, he saw a man pull up in a pickup truck and attempt to steal the mower. The resident yelled out at the man, who jumped into his truck and drove away, without the mower. Police are reviewing surveillance footage from the area.
