Kate Crosby, of Barrington

Posted

Kate Crosby passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 17.

Kate moved to Barrington, RI three years ago to be close to her daughter and grandchildren. She had been a long-time resident of East Hampton, NY and raised her family there. She also spent years in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. She was born on April 21, 1951 to Tom and Rose Crosby and grew up in Cohasset, MA.

Kate had a generous heart and spirit. She volunteered at food pantries and was always quick to offer her support to others. Kate loved flowers, nature, the beach, and writing; had an incredible sense of color, design, and art; and liked to support local people, artists, and shops. In Rhode Island, she had a great community of friends that she made through her daily walks to the beach with her two dogs, Gilly and Cujo. She also enjoyed taking classes through the Lifelong Learning Collaborative where she brought her curiosity and wit to her groups.

Above all, Kate’s children and grandchildren brought her so much joy and the last few years living close to her daughter and grandkids were some of her happiest. Her beautiful blue eyes always shined extra bright when she was with her family.

Kate is survived by her children: Liz (DeSario) Giordano and Tom Giordano of Rhode Island, Zack DeSario of East Hampton, and Luke and Lucy DeSario of East Hampton, and her nephew Charles Crosby. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Thomas, Julia, Armando, and Adriano.

There will be gatherings to celebrate Kate’s life in Barrington and New York. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to Tap-In or the Springs Food Pantry in New York.
