Writer, golfer, tennis player, story teller, singer, counselor, bridge player, and animal lover, Gale H. Marks died on July 31, 2019, in Largo, Fla., just shy of 92 years.

Born in Stamford, Conn., Gale lived with her family in Barrington for many years, where she was a member of the Barrington Congregational Church and director of the youth choir.

Gale was also a long-time resident of Jamestown, where she was active in the community, singing with the Jamestown Chorus and performing in summer musicals. Neighborhood dogs knew she could be counted on to have a “treat” in her pocket when she greeted them on her daily walks.

Preceded in death by parents Winifred and Russell Holman, sister Alison Fitter, daughter Pamela Marks, and ex-husband Barry Marks. She is survived by daughter Dana Marks, son Stephen Harlan-Marks (Pat), grandsons Timothy Harlan-Marks and Christopher Harlan-Marks (Caroline), and great-granddaughters Nellie and Sadie, and longtime companion Frank Flanagan.

Gale will be remembered as an independent-minded vivacious woman who lived life on her own terms.
