EBR rowers battle in conference championship regattas

Posted

Over the last few weeks, East Bay Rowing was well-represented at collegiate conference championship regattas throughout the Northeast.

Barrington High School graduates Ellie McGee and Julia Fortin helped the URI first varsity eight finish second in the Atlantic 10 Championship, in Saratoga Springs, New York. The Colonial Athletic Association Rowing Championship was held in Saratoga on the same day, with Ava Tine’s Delaware first varsity eight taking a bronze medal.

Also in Saratoga Springs, on May 6, Sarah DeRosa coxed the Union College men’s crew team in the Liberty League Championships and the NY State Championships.

Several alums were able to catch up at the National Invitational Rowing Championship regatta at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. on May 12.

Jake Lentz’s Ithaca College team raced against Josh Cohan’s crew from Connecticut College. Emily Swintak joined them in competition at the NIRC regatta. Swintak is a a member of Connecticut College’s women’s crew team, and Kellen Lane, a freshman at Worcester Polytech Institute, rowed in his school’s second varsity eight boat.

Later that weekend, David McMillan raced with the Columbia crew on the same waters in the Ivy League Championship. Kellan and David will head to the IRA’s in a few weeks!

On the Cooper River in New Jersey, Kayli Antons competed in the Women’s Collegiate 2x for the University of Tampa.

Over the years, East Bay Rowing alum have gone on to compete at more than 20 colleges and universities.   Many of EBR’s current rowers are completing their formal and informal visits to collegiate rowing programs in anticipation of their 2024 graduations.
