East Bay Lacrosse celebrated two state championships recently.
The East Bay Lacrosse Boys 5/6 team and the Girls 7/8 team each won Division I state championships.
The East Bay 7/8 Girls’ Lacrosse team captured the state title in a thrilling sudden-death overtime win over East Greenwich, 6-5.
Playing semifinal and final games within 24 hours, the girls showed grit bringing home the championship. Coaches praised a team that bonded through an undefeated season full of early morning games in foul weather. The graduating eighth-graders and their teammates accomplished the rare achievement of remaining undefeated for four consecutive regular seasons, reaching the state finals each year and winning the state title three times.
The East Bay Boys 5/6 D1 team captured their second straight state title with a thrilling comeback win avenging their only regular-season loss. Trailing at halftime, the boys erupted for nine second-half goals, led by Charlie Jacobs’ six tallies. A dominant defense carried them all season, while the offense delivered when it mattered most—securing a well-earned championship.
The Girls 7/8 team was led by head coach Cerissa Blaney and assistant coaches Jacqueline LoVerme and Greg Blanco, and the Boys 5/6 team was led by head coach Mark Burrell, and assistant coaches Mike Jacobs, Wes Stubbs and Mike Meech.
This spring, nearly 400 players and coaches from Barrington and surrounding towns came together for a stellar lacrosse season.
“From pre-K through eighth grade, we saw growth at every level—highlighted by the launch of our inaugural Adaptive Lacrosse program,” stated a press release from East Bay Lacrosse. “The season showcased the powerful sense of community and the positive energy this sport brings to life.
“We proudly salute our 28 graduating eighth grade players. Stay connected—we hope to see you helping at future clinics and wish you all the best wherever high school takes you!”
