On Tuesday, Feb. 18, the 2020 Hobey Baker High School Character Award selections were recognized at the Statehouse by RI Governor Gina Raimondo, Sen. Hanna Gallo and Rep. Robert Jacquard.
Barrington High School's Charlie Ames was selected for the honor, as was Ella Hanley, a member of the East Bay Co-op girls ice hockey team.
The award is given annually to one high school player from each participating boys and girls RI Interscholastic hockey program in the state. The award recognizes and rewards student-athletes for displaying exemplary character and sportsmanship on the ice, in the classroom and in their communities.
The High School Character Award is an extension of the prestigious Hobey Baker Memorial Award given annually to the nation’s top collegiate ice hockey player.
