Carolyn L. Schneider, 77, of Barrington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 at RI Hospital surrounded by family and loved ones.
Born Carolyn Lou Struk on Feb. 1, 1942 in Warren, Ohio as the eldest child of George and Susan Struk, she was baptized three weeks later at the Warren United Presbyterian Church. Carol earned her Certificate of Nurse Registration on April 20, 1964 then married Martin Schneider Jr. on May 3, 1964 in Warren, Ohio.
Afterwards Carol and Martin moved to the East Bay area where she worked 40-plus years as an RN. For 30-plus years Carol was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Riverside; participating in the church choir and women’s bible studies. Previously Carol attended Saint James Lutheran Church and Barrington Baptist Church. Outside church and work, she spent time raising her family, enjoyed reading, music, caring for pets, occasional gardening and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband and their three sons, the eldest Scott Martin Schneider and wife Karyn along with their four children Joshua, Andrew, Emily and Benjamin Schneider of Massachusetts. Her middle son, Daren Michael Schneider and wife Audrey of Pennsylvania, and her youngest son Brian George Schneider of RI. Carol has two surviving brothers, brother Rick Struk and wife Heather along with their five children, also niece Cheri Struk-Evan and sons Kyle and Tyler, as well as her youngest brother Kirk Struk all residents of Ohio. In 2015 she was predeceased by her eldest brother Larry Struk, a Providence resident.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 (Pleasant Street Church in Whitinsville, Mass.), Pastor Pete Axelson officiating, with a luncheon to follow. One of her favorite verses is Psalm 23.
