Odd assortment of items reported stolen: swim goggles, vehicle registration and more

Barrington police were busy investigating larcenies from motor vehicles last week.

Two incidents were reported early Tuesday morning, Nov. 23. A Humphreys Road resident called police after noticing that someone had rummaged through his car and stolen $15 in quarters and a pair of swim goggles, and an Edgewood Drive resident called police to report a similar incident — she said someone went through her vehicle and stole some loose change.

On Wednesday, Nov. 24, police responded to a Sowams Road home at about 6:15 a.m. Earlier that morning, someone had tried to rummage through the vehicles parked outside the home. The three suspects were driving a small white SUV, police said. The resident told police the vehicles were locked.

A short time later, a Heritage Road resident called police to report that someone had rummaged through his vehicles during the overnight hours. The resident said nothing was missing.

Later that day, a Mallard Cove Way resident told police someone rummaged through her vehicle during the overnight hours. The resident reported a license was stolen from the car. The suspect, spotted on a neighbor’s surveillance video, was a tall, thin male wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

On Friday, Nov. 26, a Beaver Road resident called police to report that someone had rummaged through his father’s vehicle during the overnight hours and stolen the vehicle registration, a pair of glasses and some surgical masks.
