On Saturday, Barrington rolled to a 52-36 win over Cranston West High School. Caroline McConaghy knocked down three 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 17 points. Gibbons scored 10, Lindsey Lemay had nine and Walter and Ceseretti each scored eight.
Boys basketball
The Barrington High School boys basketball team dropped a close game to Cumberland, 62-59 on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Ethan Coutu led all Barrington scorers with 19 points, while Matt Raffa finished with 15 and Connor Sullivan scored 14. Brigham Dunphy scored six points and Sean Bonneau added five.
Barrington bounced back with a 69-49 win over Smithfield High School on Friday, Feb. 19. Four Eagles finished in double figures, led by Raffa and Sullivan with 12 points each, and Dunphy and Coutu with 11 each. Jack Abadi scored nine and Bonneau dropped in seven.
Coutu connected on five 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 38 points as the Eagles battled to a 69-65 victory over Rocky Hill School on Monday, Feb. 22. Sullivan pitched in with 12 points, Dunphy scored eight, and Raffa dropped in six.
Boys swimming
The Eagles finished the regular season with only one loss, a 60-34 defeat against Bishop Hendricken in a virtual meet on Feb. 14. In the same meet, Barrington defeated Cumberland 73-21. In fact, the Eagles dominated most of their competition throughout the regular season, defeating Moses Brown (68-26), Lincoln (69-25), Portsmouth (81-13), East Greenwich (81-13), Prout Co-op (60-31), North Kingstown (68-26), and LaSalle (66-28).
Barrington finished the regular season in second place behind undefeated Bishop Hendricken.
Barrington will open the single-elimination playoff bracket with a meet against North Kingstown on Saturday, Feb. 27. The winner advance to the semis against the winner of Cumberland vs. Moses Brown.
Girls swimming
The Eagles finished the regular season in second place in the division with a 9-1 record. Barrington’s only loss came against first place undefeated East Greenwich, 48-46, in a virtual meet in late January. Barrington crushed the rest of its competition, defeating Bay View (73-21), Cumberland (80-14), Moses Brown (76-18), Lincoln School (67-27), Lincoln (71-23), Portsmouth (81-13), Prout (60-31), North Kingstown (68-27), and LaSalle (66-28).
The Eagles will open the single-elimination playoff bracket with a meet against North Kingstown on Saturday, Feb. 27. The winner will advance to a semifinal showdown against the winner of Bay View vs. LaSalle.
