Barrington Police are investigating an accident that occurred on County Road near Joyce Street at about 6 p.m. on Friday, July 19.
A 19-year-old Barrington resident was attempting to cross County Road at the crosswalk near Joyce Street when he was struck by a passing car, said police. The driver of the car told police he was checking his speedometer and when he looked up he struck the pedestrian.
A passer-by who saw the accident stopped and helped the pedestrian who suffered a gash to his head. Other people also offered assistance. The 19-year-old was later transported to the hospital.
