Luke Tanous went 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs scored and one stolen base as the Barrington High School baseball team (18-3) defeated Narragansett 5-0 in a Division II playoff game on Tuesday afternoon, May 28.
The Eagles will host East Greenwich in a winners bracket game on Wednesday, May 29 at 5 p.m.
Nick Scandura accounted for Barrington’s other runs with two RBI on two singles.
Jack Lawson went the distance on the mound for the Eagles. The junior pitcher walked only one batter, struck out four and threw 51 of his 69 pitches for strikes. In addition, Lawson picked off one Mariner at first base.
The Eagles turned three double-plays. Barrington also threw out two Narragansett base-runners at home plate in the fourth inning. The first was on a throw from outfielder Fin Thomson to second baseman Trevor Snow to Tanous at home.
Narragansett dropped into the losers bracket where it will play against St. Raphael’s Academy.
