On Friday, June 21, Barrington police charged a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy with underage possession or consumption-possession.
Police said the two boys had brought to the middle school a thermos containing rum. A little before 9 a.m. a teacher grew suspicious about the liquid in the thermos; one of the boys took a swig and then spit out the alcohol, saying it burned his throat.
The police officer said the liquid smelled like alcohol and a test later confirmed that. Friday was the last day of school in Barrington.
