Barrington police fielded complaints about a series of disputes between neighbors last week:

• On Tuesday, April 20, police received a call from a Promenade Street resident at about 10 a.m. who said her neighbor was playing music too loudly and the music had swear words. The caller also told police she believed the music was directed at and referring to her in a negative tone. Police responded and told the neighbor that she needed to turn down the volume of the music. Police were back at the same location on Friday, when one of the residents filed a complaint about her neighbor, stating that she had written troubling posts to her social media account. Police said the posts — it was involving the neighbor’s security camera and fence — did not rise to the level of a crime.

• On Wednesday, April 21, police received a phone call from the owner of a building on Washington Road who complained that a neighboring business owner had been harassing contractors doing work on the building. The property owner said he had called police numerous times, but the issue had not been rectified. Police said there may be other issues that led to the conflicts.

• On Sunday, April 25, an Adams Point Road resident called police to report an ongoing problem with a neighbor. The resident said her neighbor had been harassing her and her family, shining bright lights into her windows during the early morning hours. She also said the neighbor had been up late hollering and yelling, and that she had heard him say that “There are rats around and they need to be poisoned.” She believed that comment was directed at her because she had called police earlier for a separate incident. She said she was worried her neighbor might harm her family. Police are trying to contact the neighbor.
