Former Barrington High School standout and current Gettysburg College senior Julia Soares was recently named to the All-Centennial Conference Field Hockey Second Team. This was the third time in the last three years Julia was selected all-conference.

The former BHS star turned in her best statistical season yet for the Bullets this fall.

Julia started all 20 games for Gettysburg and finished with personal best marks in goals (10), assists (6), and points (26). She tied for sixth in the conference in assists, while ranking tied for ninth in both goals and points. Also, Julia produced a pair of multi-goal efforts against Muhlenberg and Lebanon Valley.

Gettysburg was 7-1 this season when the senior scored a goal, and 17-3 overall during her tenure on the field. Julia finished her career with 61 points on 25 goals and 11 assists in 64 games.

Julie helped lead Gettysburg to an 11-9 overall record and 5-5 finish in the conference. The team qualified for the postseason for the first time since 2012 and earned a 1-0 victory over Bryn Mawr College in the opening round. Against conference champ and sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins in the conference semifinals, the Bullets came up just short, losing 5-4. Julia had five shots on goal in the semifinals showdown and tallied an assist.

In her senior year at Barrington High School, Julia and the Eagles finished the regular season with a record of 16-1-1, and entered the Division I playoffs as the number one seed.
