Barrington Middle School softball goes undefeated in regular season

Middle school softball and baseball teams open playoffs on Friday, May 23

The Barrington Middle School softball team, which finished the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record, will face Broad Rock Middle School of South Kingstown in a playoff game on Friday, May 23. Barrington, which is in its second season, will host the game at the Barrington High School junior varsity field (behind the tennis courts) at 4:30 p.m.

“It’s been a great season, and hopefully our success continues throughout the playoffs,” said Barrington Middle School Coach Brian Goodhart.

The Eagles finished the regular season on May 19, with a 13-6 win over Portsmouth. Barrington recognized its eighth-graders following the game. Eighth grade members of the team are Erin Moran, Audrey Paxton, Grace Saltzman, Eva Sturla, Anna Friel, Susan Bush, Lucy Cabral, Macy Smith, Bella Gomez, Sidney Turk, and Rachel Wilmarth.

The team also has eight seventh-graders and three sixth-graders.

The Barrington Middle School baseball team, which is in its first season, will play against Broad Rock Middle School of South Kingstown on Friday, May 23, at 4:30 p.m. The game will be played at Curtis Corner Middle School.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
