The Arts Alive! Pre-Professional Program will present Urinetown, the Musical, a satirical, laugh-out-loud production, on May 2-4.
“Set in a dystopian future where water is scarce and even using the restroom comes at a cost, Urinetown follows a group of unlikely rebels as they rise up against an oppressive system,” stated the Arts Alive! press release. “With a wickedly clever script, high-energy choreography, and a powerhouse score, this production is a must-see for theatre lovers and newcomers alike.
This year’s show marks the second year of the Arts Alive! Pre-Professional Program, a training ground for elite teen performers across Rhode Island pursuing musical theatre at the highest level.
The program is under the direction of artistic director Dena Davis, choreographer Jenna Tremblay-Reilly and musical director Laura Jenkins.
The show dates are Friday, May 2, at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 3 at 1 and 7 p.m., and Sunday, May 4 at 1 p.m. All shows are at the Barrington Middle School auditorium.
Tickets are $25 for general admission, and $15 for students. They will be available online — www.artsaliveri.org — and at the door (unless the show is sold out).
The Blount Food truck will be on site for the May 3 performances.
