Anne "Annie" Gaffney McLaughlin passed away unexpectedly in St. Petersburg, Fla. on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 at the age of 25. Annie is the daughter of Kristin Shulman of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Mark McLaughlin of Cape Cod, Mass.
Annie struggled with addiction and was able to overcome it in the last nine months of her life with the support of her family and friends. She was grateful and thankful for each day in her sobriety. Annie was hit and killed while riding her bike in a crosswalk.
We can remember Annie as a loving compassionate person who enjoyed playing tennis, going to the beach, her dog Bella, painting, and the arts. She recently opened a clay studio in St. Petersburg where she found peace in the creative process. We will remember Annie as silly, kind and thoughtful.
Annie's parents want to recognize the Hambletts, The McQuades, and the Panagos Family for the support and love they offered Annie in trying times.
Annie was predeceased by Grandpa McLaughlin and her Uncle Joseph Gaffney. Annie is survived by her beloved siblings Erin and Clayton Massey, Patrick McLaughlin, Katie McLaughlin, Grandparents Patricia McLaughlin, as well as Donald and Ellen Gaffney. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Dolphin Restaurant from 2 to 5 p.m., location 3250 Main Street, Barnstable, MA 02630.
