Barrington Police investigating alleged assault at elementary school

Barrington Police are investigating incidents with ties to local private and public schools. The incidents are unrelated.

On Monday, May 2, officials at a private school in Barrington called police after a parent of a student told school officials she had found marijuana candies in her child’s room.

The parent told school officials that she believed another student at the school had given the marijuana candies to her daughter.

Police spoke to the students involved — a male student later admitted that he had taken the candies from his father and on two occasions given them to his classmate. Police are investigating.

Also on Monday, May 2, police investigated a possible assault at Nayatt Elementary School — the incident involves students. Police said a parent is alleging that other students dragged his child through the playground.

Police spoke with parties involved; the students said they were just playing a game. The investigation is ongoing.
