The 2022 Barrington High School field hockey team recently held its season-ending banquet, when head coach Anne Gasbarro announced a long list of accolades and accomplishments for many of the players.
As successful as they were on the field, finishing as one of the top teams in Rhode Island and losing in triple-overtime in the state semifinals, they may have been even more successful off the field.
All six of the team’s seniors Amy Labelle, Violet Gagliano, Peyton Whittet, Caroline West, Emma Johnson and Abby Martel, made the All State All-Academic Team, which means they maintained a high academic record through their high school years.
In the case of these six seniors, they have all maintained a 4.0 GPA so far through their first three and a half years at BHS. In addition, Martel was named first-team All State for her performance on the field this year. Gagliano and sophomore Emma Mueller were named second-team All-State. And Whittet, who ended the year as the state’s third-highest scorer, with 21 goals and 11 assists, received All State Honorable Mention.
Labelle and junior Chelsea Duncan were also named to the All-State Tournament team.
