The Sowams School Octoberfest is just around the corner.

The Sowams Octoberfest, the key fundraiser for the Sowams School PTO, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This year’s event will face the additional challenge of the large construction project at the local elementary school. Organizers created a fun map to explain how best to navigate the school campus and construction site.

The Octoberfest will include the always popular Class Basket Raffle and Silent Auction, which opened on Oct. 3. The silent auction includes items, such as a soft-serve ice cream maker, Nike shoes for a year, and a pizza party from Moving Dough.

Sowams Octoberfest will also be hosting a Touch-a-Truck with the fire truck from the Barrington Fire Department, as well as two construction trucks from Shawmut Construction (a digger and an excavator), so kids can have an up close look at the machines that have been working around the school for the past few months.

“We'll still have the Haunted Hay Ride, carnival games hosted by our classroom parents, face painting, arts and crafts, and food trucks, as well as a bounce house and inflatable obstacle course,” said one of the event organizers.

There will not be any parking on the school campus.
