Bristol Oyster Bar is seeking a new home

Posted

Bristol Oyster Bar announced Thursday that they have made the difficult decision to close the doors of their current location permanently, though they assert this is not the end of the brand.

According to their statement on the closing, the Bristol Oyster Bar has been proud to serve the community with some of the freshest shellfish from Narragansett Bay, creating memorable experiences centered around great food, hospitality, and coastal inspiration. The support from guests, staff, and the local community has meant everything to the team.

As the brand looks ahead, the focus shifts toward finding a new home. Bristol Oyster Bar is actively exploring opportunities for a future location and, in the meantime, plans to host pop-ups at local eateries and breweries. As they regroup, they look to grow their catering branch, Coastal Catering, which provides catering at their neighboring venue, O'Brien and Brough Distillery and Blending House in Bristol, as well as off-site to other venues and homes.

Guests are encouraged to stay connected through social media for updates on upcoming events, pop-ups, and future plans.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received over the years,” said owner Jordan Sawyer. “We look forward to the day we can welcome you back and serve you again.”

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
