The Westport High School tennis team lost a non-league home match to Case 4-1 on Monday afternoon. The loss drops the team’s overall record to 6-8.
“Case is having their best season in years, so we knew it would be a tough match,” said Head Coach Tom Clark. “They are the best team we have played this year.”
The Wildcats are still doing well in their own division, with a 4-3 record in the Mayflower League. The team visits Case on Tuesday and closes out the season with a Mayflower League match at Sacred Heart on Thursday.
Wildcats three player Alex Raposa was the only Westport player to win his match against Case.
“Alex played very well,” said coach Clark. “He told me it was the best he has played this season.”
Singles results:
Westport one singles player Evan Kidd lost to Eli Gedard 6-2, 6-1. Two singles player Brendan Martin lost to Mike Azevedo 6-2, 6-1. Three player Alex Raposa beat Tyler Abdallah 6-4, 6-3.
Doubles results:
The Westport one doubles team of Andrew Clayton and Jonathan Letendre lost to Will Kenyon and Mack Deschenes 6-0, 6-1.
Westport two doubles team of Tyler Holden and Mikyle Couto lost to Dhiran Ollerhead and Mike Bisbano 6-2, 6-0.
