Ronald “Pete” Vanasse, 77, Tiverton

Ronald “Pete” Vanasse, 77, died peacefully while surrounded by his family on November 29, 2017.  

 He is survived by five children, Danielle Namaka of Cumberland (Gary), Deborah Manchester of Tiverton (Russ Croteau), Dawn Sanford of Tiverton (Bill), Dean Vanasse of Abington (Lucia), and Adam Vanasse of Dedham (Gina); three sisters, Georgette Tetreault of Fall River, Claudette Petit of Westport (Ray),and Theresa Stockwell of Westport; he is also survived by 12 grandchildren; his longtime partner Colleen Romer of Wareham; and his ex-wife Lucille of Fall River. Pete was predeceased by his wife Barbara and sister Constance Sicard.

Born and raised in Fall River, the son of Leo and Berenice, he was a lifelong resident of Tiverton.

In his early years, Pete helped with the family business, Bogle Hill Bakery. At 18, he enlisted in the Marine Reserves (’57 to ’65). Pete held multiple jobs including Pete Vanasse Nationwide Insurance, which he ran for 40 years. 

Pete was best known for being a musician (saxophonist). Pete was an integral member of local renowned bands, such as Charlie Quintal and the Talk of the Town and Bandstand Revue. He could be found entertaining crowds on any given weekend during the 1950s through today. 

Pete was an incredibly unique and talented individual who brought tremendous joy and love to his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boys & Girl Club of Fall River. 

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 12 p.m. on January 14, 2018 at White’s of Westport.
