They had started out in 1979 simply as a wine-and-beer making supplies store, just a little ways down the road from the Victorian house they occupy today.
In the decades since, however, Partners Village Store has grown to embody so much more, adding on their café and kitchen, eclectic gift and toy collection and independent bookstore and printing press.
To celebrate a successful 40 years in business, the Westport community staple will be hosting an anniversary party this Saturday, May 25, at 865 Main Road.
From 10 am to 4 pm, a wide-range of free, family-friendly activities will be offered for residents of all ages to enjoy.
There will be Kripalu yoga with Jeff Costa, an interactive seashell exhibit with the Westport Watershed Alliance; a visit from Kave Rock alpacas and some cold-blooded pets; a pie-eating contest at lunchtime, plus Woods ice cream to end the day. A full schedule of events can be found at http://partnersvillagestore.com/events/partners-40th-anniversary-celebration.
Though Partners has grown and evolved since first opening their doors, they have always strived to support the local community, from farmers and makers to artists and writers. For more information, visit http://partnersvillagestore.com/.
