Ida Rose, 93, Adamsville

Ida (Rebello) Rose, 93, of Adamsville, died peacefully at home with her family by her side on Friday, August 31, 2018.  She was wife of the late John H. Rose. 

Born in Somerset, daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Lima) Rebello, she had lived in Tiverton for most of her life.  She was the founder and former owner, along with her husband, of Roseland Acres Equestrian Center.  She was also co-owner / operator of John H. Rose Construction Company and Roseland Builders.  Mrs. Rose was well loved and respected in the equestrian community.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia J. Medeiros and her husband Frank of Tiverton and Pamela A. Cyr and her late husband Richard N. Cyr of Adamsville; two grandchildren, Jon G. Sequeira and his wife Amanda Snellinger and Jennifer K. Gallant and her husband Steven; two great grandchildren, Emily and Alayna Gallant; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, September 4, at St. Barnabus Church, 1697 E. Main Rd., Portsmouth, RI at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.

At the family's request, calling hours are respectfully omitted.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
