Dolores N. "Dede" (Falvey) McGreavy, 97, of Tiverton, passed away peacefully at St. Anne's Hospital on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. She was the wife of the late John A. McGreavy. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Norah (Leary) Falvey.

Dolores leaves her children, Susan McGreavy and her husband John F. Pimental of Tiverton, John McGreavy and his wife Kathleen of Brownfield, Maine, Edward "Ned" McGreavy and his wife Connie of Warren, RI, Joseph McGreavy of Tiverton, Mary Sullivan and her husband Michael of Westport, Christopher McGreavy of Westport, Margaret McGreavy of Tiverton and Timothy McGreavy and his wife Celeste of Dartmouth, Mass.

She also leaves 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Dede was a proud daughter of Corky Row, St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish and School, and Sacred Heart Academy where she reveled in her St. Margaret's Red.

During World War II, Dede worked for the United States Navy at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. She had an active prayer life and her rosary was always at hand. All who confided in her about their worries were added to her novena list. She was a woman of deep faith and an ardent feminist.  She was passionate about politics, an avid reader of biography and historical fiction.

Dede was an accomplished knitter and contributed to the Senior Center’s knitting for charity efforts. Her award winning apple pie is the stuff of legend.  She shared deep affection and mutual admiration with all her grandchildren:  Bridie, Kate, Anna, Jake, Myles, Erin, Maddie, Liz, Amy, Emily, Meredith and Molly.  And she delighted in her great-grandsons Nolan and Eliot.

Dolores was the mother of the late Michael McGreavy and sister of the late Edward Falvey, Neil Falvey, John Falvey, Loretta Falvey, Margaret Kelly, Dorothea Falvey, Joseph Falvey, Thomas Falvey and Kenneth Falvey.

Calling hours were Sunday, March 3, at Connors Funeral Home, Portsmouth.

Her funeral was Monday, March 4, from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial in The Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, Fall River. Burial was at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
