Carolyn (Norgren) Hirsch, age 88, entered into rest peacefully at home with her family on Feb. 5, 2019. She was the wife of Ernest G. Hirsch, to whom she had been married for 61 years.

Born in Providence, R.I., daughter of the late John and Carrie (Anderson) Norgren, she was raised in East Providence, R.I. She was a 60-year resident of Foxborough. She was a graduate of East Providence High School and Roger Williams Hospital School of Nursing.

Carolyn specialized in pediatric nursing. She was employed by Rhode Island Hospital, Bradley Hospital, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, the Kennedy Center and Wrentham State School. She was the school nurse at Foxborough High School for 13 years, where she was affectionately called Nurse Hirsch.

After retirement, she was a volunteer for Massachusetts General Hospital for 17 years. She was a contributor to the National Nurses Health Study. She participated in town wellness clinics, was treasurer of the Foxborough Women’s Club, a member of the Foxborough Garden Club and was the town liaison for the Salvation Army.  She was also a member of the Westport Yacht Club and the Foxborough Town Republican Committee.

She particularly enjoyed the family summer home in Westport Point, where she walked the beach, swam, listened to music and read with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Carlene H. Evans (Reverend Jacob) of Latham, N.Y., and two sons, Eric E. Hirsch of Johnston, R.I. and Garth N. Hirsch (Dr. Brooke Harrow) of Burlington, Mass.  She was grandmother of five, Dr. Kateylyn Evans of Nashville, Tenn., Jacob August Evans of Dallas, Texas, Emma Jack and Luke Hirsch of Burlington, and sister of the late Barbara Kelly.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, Feb. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St. Foxborough. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at All Saint’s Memorial Church, 674 Westminster St., Providence, RI.
