Youth lacrosse day celebrates 'girl-power'

East Bay girls lacrosse teams welcomed at Roger Williams University

The Roger Williams University women's lacrosse team hosted three local youth lacrosse teams on campus recently during their home win against University of New England. Youth Day at Roger Williams University saw more than 60 players representing two East Bay Lacrosse teams.

The girls, all middle school age, were special guests of the program. They were there to watch the game and were welcomed and introduced during halftime. The two East Bay teams played a mini-game on the turf at the half.

After the game, all of the players — youth and college — got to spend a little time together during a scheduled post-game reception. Roger Williams head coach Jen Fox was thrilled with the outcome.

"We were excited to have the youth programs on campus for the game, our players really enjoyed spending time with them after the game," said Coach Fox. "We are looking forward to working with the girls more in the future."
