Barrington 12U Majors All Stars eliminated

Posted

A showdown between the Warren and Barrington 9-10 Minors All Star teams on Wednesday night was delayed after thunder and lightning filled the sky and rain fell hard onto Sherwood Field.

Barrington led 4-1 in the top of the fourth inning when lightning flashed, thunder boomed and rain started falling. Officials first planned to delay the game for 30 minutes, but later decided to postpone the conclusion of the game until Thursday afternoon, July 13.

Warren opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when Ben Peters walked, advanced to second and third and then scored on a wild pitch.

Barrington struck back to tie the game in the top of the second inning and built a 4-1 lead with three runs in the third inning. Meanwhile Barrington's pitcher Ethan Couturier settled down after giving up a run in the first and struck out a handful of Warren batters.

Barrington was batting in the top of the fourth inning when the rain delay was called. The game is scheduled to be completed today, July 13, in Barrington.

Majors eliminated

Barrington's 12U Majors All Star team was knocked out of the District 2 tournament after losing 3-0 to Bristol on Wednesday. The game was played in Bristol. Barrington had slipped into the elimination bracket after a tough loss to Riverside in the opener, but had reeled off four wins prior to the loss to Bristol.
