Warren man charged with child abuse, domestic assault

A Laurel Lane man faces child abuse and other charges after he allegedly assaulted his 17-year-old daughter and tried to prevent his girlfriend from calling the police.

Andre Dion McDaniel, 38, of 22 Laurel Lane, was arrested Thursday, March 7 after police were called to his home. Upon arrival officers learned that Mr. McDaniel had an argument with his 17-year-old daughter. During the argument the defendant grabbed and pushed the daughter toward the kitchen cabinets. His live-in girlfriend was on the phone with the police when the defendant took the phone from her.

The alleged victim complained of head and neck pain. and was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital.

Mr. McDaniel was later located and arrested on the charges of second degree child abuse, failure to relinquish the telephone and domestic disorderly conduct.
