Warren is throwing a party this weekend, and it’s a decidedly down-home affair.

The third annual Warren Folks Fest runs from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at 30 Cutler St.

The festival is put on by The Collaborative, Warren’s arts and art education non-profit, and it’s the organization’s main fund-raiser for the year.

It all centers around arts and music, and there will be no shortage of either. Playing throughout the day on the main stage are Haunt The House, Roots Government, Bernard John, The Low Cards and The Quahogs. On the second stage will be music from bands signed to Warren’s 75orless record label.

Apart from the music, art is a big part of the festival and many artists’ works will be for sale. For those with an appetite, there will be food from Balasco’s Pizza, Bella Roast Beef, Chomp, Chelsea’s Creamery, Nitrocart, Eli’s Kitchen and more. With the event co-sponsored by Narragansett Beer, there will be plenty of suds to go around, as well as non-alcoholic drinks.

The Collaborative’s Uriah Donnelly said Monday that the festival helps make possible the organization’s arts-centric work throughout the year.

“It really helps us to be able to promote our mission, which is to promote art of all kinds and make it easier for them to create,” he said.

Funds from the festival help in many ways, he said, “from just paying rent to funding the Warren Art Academy (a free children’s art workshop held in April), and little things like smaller workshops throughout the year. We also have a music show once a month in the gallery, and though we pass the hat we give the artists 100 percent of that. We wouldn’t be able to do that without the funds” The Collaborative raises at Folks Fest.

The festival runs free all day Sunday. Proceeds are generated through the donation of beer receipts, artist table fees and a percentage cut of food sold.
