Therese J. (Saucier) Duarte, 86, of Warren, RI, formerly of Fall River, passed away Monday, March 4, 2019.

A clerical worker for Philip's Lightolier for many years, she enjoyed playing Scrabble and making crafts, especially Christmas ornaments. She proudly raised five children by herself and was an avid ballroom dancer.

She leaves four children, Ronald Garant (wife Linda) of Tiverton, Marc Garant (wife Denise) of Fall River, Paul Garant (wife Judith) of Fall River and Diane Pelletier (husband Robert) of Warren; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Pavao of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Denise Spors, the sister of the late George and Leo Saucier and the daughter of the late Joseph and Dina (St. Pierre) Saucier.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
