Ricky Joseph Samson, 57, of Mobile, Alabama, and formerly of Warren and Bristol, died Sunday, March 12, 2017 in Alabama. He was the son of the late A. Paul and Luise (Iasiello) Samson.

Ricky was a 1978 graduate of Warren High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst.

He is survived by his sister, Michele Souza (Bob) of Rehoboth, MA; and his brothers, Arthur and Paul Samson (Daria), both of Warren. He also leaves two nieces, Tammie Luther and Christal Samson; a great-niece, Alyssa (Luther) Brown; and a great-nephew, Dillon Luther.

Our brother generously donated himself to a University College of Medicine.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
